I did drink alcohol a couple of years ago. I am consulting a doctor, and I am wondering if I should go on medication. The Dr. is working with me. I will have the final say. What is your opinion/ Thanks, David
Hello Since your age is 64 years and blood pressure is 162 / 90 mm of Hg. You should be worried but not too much because of age and reading of BP is not too high. I see similar cases amongst in this age group who visit my clinic. In the first meeting I advise my patients to go life style modification for 3 months . I retest them again after 3 months ,if remains high B P I prescribe medicine , otherwise no need of worry. 1 High fiber diet with green leafy vegetables & fruits. 2 Cut down the processed food , white bread , doughnuts , white sugar pizza, burger should be completely avoided with alcohol and smoking. 3 A 40 minute physical activities everyday either morning or evening walk or gym or swimming. Also avoid excess of salt . Hope these information will be good for you.
