Suggest Remedy For Bony Projection Behind Left Ear

I am a 30 year old male.I have a bony projection behind my left ear which is the size of a small coin.I have first noticed it around 1 and half month ago.Its not growing.Its hard to touch and not painful.I have shown to my family physician and he says that its nothing,just my skull bone. However today(8th March 2010) have developed neck pain towards the left side close to this and I am scared.Please let me know is it serious?
