Suggest Remedy For Broken Bones In The Foot

My sister has been told that she needs to have a foot fusion. 3 years ago she broke 3 bones in her foot and they healed wrong. She is in tremendous pain but I am worried because the Doctor said that after the fusion she would have to be very careful because she could easily break the fusion and once it is done they cannot undo it and she would end up in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. The Doctor told her that if it were him he would not have it done! She is 65 years old. She is going in for a consultation today but does not know the right questions to ask. Can you help?
