Suggest Remedy For Bruise Below Elbow And Armpits

My husband takes cumudum. On Sunday, a week ago, his right arm started to bruise between the elbow and armpit, also there was a knot under the bruise and he was in severe pain. ER docs called it a hematoma, go home with some pain medicine and put heat on the arm where the knot was. Bruise spread down to the lower arm whch is now brused and swollen, but no knots. Cannot use right arm and three middle finges tingle. Now 5 days of continued trearment nothing has changed with the arm. However a very large bruise has spread down his side spreading towards his sternum.

Hi,

Bruises and knot under the bruises (Hematoma) may be due to unwanted effect of coumadin, as it is a blood thinner. The treatment of bruises due to coumadin on any part of body may be treated by giving rest to the affected part / limb and avoiding it from further injury or trauma. For pain and swelling, application of icepack for 10-15 minutes 2-3 times a day may help to reduce pain and swelling.

However, if the symptoms do not subside or become more intense, then it is recommended, that you see your doctor about this & management accordingly, as you may be needed to reduce your dose of coumadin or change the salt of blood thinner.
