Suggest Remedy For Bruised Knee From An Injury

I was playing basketball and ran into someone with my knee cap. I now have a 1" diameter knot on the top of my knee toward the upper leg and toward the inside of my leg. What do you recommend? It is a little painful to the touch and only visible when I extend my leg.
