Hi. I had a biopsy on my tongue 4 weeks ago. The stitches are in a little. Two strings left to come out. I called the surgeon s office and they said they are just slower dissolving ones that were used. There is a hard bump in my tongue where the stitches were. This morning there was a white bump on my tongue that looked like a pimple, now it is red. What is going on!? Please help.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain a hard bump at the site of stitches over the tongue can be due to Hematoma formation at the site of incision and and there is also accuulation of inflammatory cells and fibres.. It will resolve gradually on its own and it will be better if you do cool compresses over it.. A white bump over the tongue that has now turned red can be an apthous ulcer or a canker sore and it is also commonly self resolving and you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over it.. You can also do warm saline gargles and suck ice..
Hope this information helps.
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
