Suggest Remedy For Bumps In Tongue

Hi I noticed a bump on my tongue almost a week ago, I thought I had just bitten it and that it would go away. The next day I had about 4 spots on my tongue that felt the same. Since then it seems like they rotate where and how many, but as many as 7 or 8 spots at a time. Its extremely painful, causing me speech issues and having a very hard time eating.I m currently 17 weeks pregnant. I have had a cold over the past 2/3 weeks that was brought on from my daughter attending daycare. I haven t taken anything for the cold, I have gurgled with warm salt water to combat my sore throat and tongue. ..it initially stings and then for a very short time takes the pain away from my tongue, but nothing substantial. I m not sure what else to do.....all I know is it hurts all day and night, and is making eating very difficult.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have small bumps at the back of your tongue which occurs due to tongue bite first and know keeps on increasing is due to transient Lingual Papillitis . These occur when papillae become irritated and slightly swollen. They occur due to various reasons like stress , hormonal changes or acidic and spicy food . It generally doesn’t require treatment and clears up within two weeks. Do warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day . If condition doesn't get better in few days then consult oral pathologist for proper checkup and rule out condition like herpes or canker sore, Coat the blisters well will antiviral ointment containing Acyclovir. For pain and if you also have fever Tylenol can be taken. Maintain good oral hygiene and drink plenty of water.
