Suggest Remedy For Bumps On Tongue

I am 5'10", 180 pounds, male, 21 years old, and am currently on accutane.
Yesterday I noticed bumps on the back of my tongue. and for the past few weeks I have had a slightly red throat and whitish green mocous on my tonsils. However there is little to no soreness or other major symptoms.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your health concerns..

As per your complain you have a bacterial infection in throat known as STREP THROAT caused by Streptococcus bacteria leading to TONSILLITIS.

As you are taking Accutane which contains Isotretinoin and is used to treat acne , it is not seen to cause and side effects like sore throat or pus pockets on tonsils..

The bumps you noticed at the back of the tongue can be inflamed Circumvallate papillae that contains taste buds and due to throat infection they can also get inflamed and appear as large bumps..

The circumvallate papillae are normally also elevated bumps and are arranged in a typical "V" shaped pattern so even it is possible that what you are seeing as elevated bumps are normal appearance of the papillae..

You should take:

1. Antibiotics like Azithromycin 500mg once daily for five days..
2. Antihistamine like ALLEGRA 60 mg twice daily..
3. In case of pain OTC painkiller like Ibuprofen (advil or motrin) can be taken twice daily..
4. Warm saline gargles can help..
5. Chewable Vtamin C lozenges can be helpful..
6.Avoid spicy food..

Hope this information helps and thanks for writing to Healthcare Magic..
