Suggest Remedy For Chapped Upper Lip With Brown Line Of Chapped Skin Through The Middle

My lips, mainly my top lip, is super chapped and has a dark brown line of chapped skin right through the middle. I can barely move upper lip to eat or to smile, and it feels numb. Also, there the skin right above my lip was bright red last night, but the color seems to be faded now. Is this normal or is there something wrong that I can do to fix it?

Hi Dear ,

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . There can be many reasons for chapped lip like dry weather conditions ,excessive licking and picking of lips ,excessive exposure to sun. When natural moist layer on lips get lost due to various reason the become dry and ultimately become chapped.The redness is common in case of chapped lips .

I would suggest you to apply lip balm containing SPF 15 to protect your lip from dryness and UV radiations , stay in moist environment ,drink lots of water and avoid licking and picking of lips .You can also apply honey at night . For discoloration exfoliate your lip and use ointment containing hudroquinone(under expert's advice ).

If condition still persist then consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment.
