Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 19 month old who has been coughing for a while now with no fevers. The coughing seems to be getting worse and nose is constantly running clear. She is now spitting up the white foamy substance. Should I give her a breathing treatment to help her breath easier. I am giving her a cough medicine currently.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the symptoms of coughing and runny nose along with spitting of white foamy substance can be due to upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis etc.. I would suggest you to consult Paediatrician and get evaluated and he can advise you to give her a short course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin, cough expectorants, and anti allergics like Benadryl.. Do warm compresses over the chest.. Feed her with plenty of warm fluids and also ample of rest.. Avoid cold foods and give her only soft diet.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
