Hello,

Swollen tonsils in adults are an indication for their removal through surgery. Please repeat the usage of steroids and antibiotics you were previously prescribed. Once the pain and size of the tonsil reduce, it will be easy to remove. The operation is performed under general anesthesia. Kindly contact ENT surgeon and discuss about surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
