Suggest Remedy For Chronic Urticaria And Hives

I have chronic urticaria; seem resistant to generic zyrtec but just yesterday my doctor put me on generic xyzal (5mg @ evening); today I ve seen no reduction in my hives--how long should the generic xyzal take to kick in IF it is effective in me? I am also on famotodine and doxepin (but weaning off doxepin due to weight gain side effect experienced over last 9 months). What do YOU suggest for chronic hives? Itching driving me crazy, I can sleep at nite, but hives build up on me during day and my evenings are horrible!
