Suggest Remedy For Constant Cough While Lying Down

Hi, For the past week, every single night, I ve gotten about 4 hours of sleep. Its because I have a cough. I did a little bit of research and I think I have a dry cough. During the day, I don t cough at all, but as soon as I get into bed (about half an hour into it), I start getting an ich (in the same spot everytime) in my throat and I don t stop coughing for hours. It got to the point where I almost pucked tonight. Just wondering if there is anything I can do about it? I will go see a doctor but I go to school and have exams this week so I cant do that right now, and I need my sleep!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The most common causes of persistent coughing are: post nasal drip, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) and asthma.

With a history of itching in the throat it is possible that your symptoms are related to post nasal drip.

It is most commonly due to allergic reaction which could be in response to dust, pollen, pets, foods etc.

This can be treated by avoiding the allergen if known, topical steroid nasal sprays and oral antihistamines.

I hope this helps

Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having some upper respiratory tract infection making more irritation on the throat while lying down position leading to more cough reflex.
You might require one antibiotic medicine course like azzithromicin and some decongestant medicine.
Do worm water gargle.
Avoid cold drinks and junk food.
Ok and take care.
