Suggest Remedy For Constant Sneezing, Cough, Burning And Painful Ribs And Chest

This last friday evening i was outside in the cold for 2 hrs inproperly dressed. By the time i got home to warm u, not only had my toes had the onset of frostbite, but within less than an hr o being home i had started a sneezing fit of t least 20 sneezes in a row and i could not stop blowing my nose. Since then, i have not been able to stop coughing this aweful deep dry cough that has my whole chest burning and is making my chest, throat and ribs n back jus hurt. I periodically still have these crazy sneezing fits, n as of late saturday afternoon i completly lost my voice and have yet been able to talk even above a whisper. Ive been running jus a low grade temp...around 100.1 and my sinuses hurt so bad. How long should i wait to see if it lightens up before going to c a dr?

Hi,

Based on your symptoms, it sounds like you may have developed a respiratory infection, such as a cold or the flu. Exposure to cold temperatures can weaken the immune system and make individuals more susceptible to infection.

Here are some home remedies that may help alleviate your symptoms:
* Rest: Your body needs rest to recover from an infection. Take time off work or school if you can and rest as much as possible.
* Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids, such as water, tea, and soups, to help loosen mucus and prevent dehydration.
* Use a Humidifier: A cool mist humidifier can help moisten the air and soothe irritated nasal passages.
* Saltwater Gargle: Mix a teaspoon of salt with warm water and gargle several times a day to ease a sore throat.
* Over-the-Counter Medications: Over-the-counter medications such as cough suppressants and decongestants may provide some relief. However, it's important to follow the instructions on the label and consult with a doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

If your symptoms do not improve or worsen after a few days, it's best to consult with a doctor. In particular, if you experience chest pain or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately as these symptoms may indicate a more serious condition.

If you require a personalized response, kindly use the Ask A Doctor service and post a follow-up. Take care. Hope I have answered your question.
