Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dad had a back op about 2 weeks ago, on Tuesday last week he had a light stroke and a blood clot was found on the heart. He is currently taking Warferin, but has been battling with constipation since the back operation. He was given suppositories on numerous occasions but it only helps for the time he uses it. He has no energy and cant eat prunes to make his stomach go. What can I give him?
Is you dad on any strong pain medications like tramadol, morphine? If this is the case, then that is the most likely cause of his constipation. Increased fruits vegetables, fiber and water consumption would help. he should also be put on a laxative in this case to prevent and alleviate these symptoms.
I hope this helps. I wish your dad well.
