Suggest Remedy For Cough And Running Nose With Dark Green Mucus
I have had a chesty cough and runny nose for over 5 weeks. The mucus is thick and dark green with it never ending. I have tried amoxilin and a tellow antibiotc tablet which is taken twice a day and begins with the letter C ( sorry no longer have the box). The left side of my rib cage is also been hurting for 2 weeks and is really bad when i cough. I been to my local GPs 5 times now and i feel like i am being let down as no Xray or blood test are being offered. What medicine should i try next. I was also told to take 1500g of paracetamol 3 times a day but did not do this as not recommended by alot of experts. I am only 30 years old and have given up smoking for the last 2 months with now no gravings at all.
Chest pain on left side and green expectoration is indicative of a lung infection. I would advise you to consult your doctor again and insist on clinical examination, auscultation; X-ray chest to start with and CT scan of chest if required, tests of blood along with mucus for gram staining, culture and sensitivity.
All these will help to get a proper diagnosis and thus have a proper management. Second opinion of a pulmonologist is highly recommended to get additional clinical evaluation and investigations. If the cause is surgical then get an opinion of a Surgical specialist and get treated accordingly. Do not start smoking.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
