Suggest Remedy For Cut On The Side Of Lower Eye Lid

My daughter has a cut ( like a slit) on the I side of her lower eye lid about 7mm in length. It is red around the laceration and a bit swollen but doesn t look infected. Her past medical history is epibletheron of the same eye. She had a operation in 2010 where they pulled the lid down with a dissolvable stitch and all went well.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

Surrounding redness and swelling around a wound seems to suggests that there may be some infection.
If I was the treating doctor I would suggest an empirical course of an Oral antibiotic before it gets worse.
My choice of an Oral antibacterial would be either flucloxacillin Or cephalexin for a week.
Oral antibiotics are prescription drugs and therefore I suggest that you to talk to your doctor for the needful.
Topically you may use either soap water Or an antiseptic solution e.g betadine solution to clean the area.
After cleaning you may apply an OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, twice daily over the affected area.

Regards
