i have an infection in one of my teeth and my dentist prescribed me amoxicillin to rid the infection so that he could do a root canal and put a cap on it. the medicine helped for about 5 days and then i stopped taking it because it started giving me problems. and now i have a cyst on my gum under that same tooth. what should i do?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Cysts are common near the root of teeth. Majority of them are inflammatory and associated with infection. In case there is infection associated with the cyst, the infection has to be resolved. The course of antibiotic has resolved the infection in the root of the tooth. The cyst which is in relation with the tooth can be treated with surgical excision. The cyst can be surgically removed and it should be sent for histopathological examination to know the exact nature of the lesion. Excision of the cyst will be curative.
