Hi, I am 37 years old and having problem with my skin... Developing cystic acne... So I am wondering 2 things:1. I suffer low hirsutism (could be caused by polycystic ovaries?). Thyroxine replacement could mask this problem? As I dont have irregular periods, not infertility. 2. I have check some hormones and the only a bit high (120) was the SHGB.. I dont know what can I do, my diet is quite healthy, I cut dairy and eat a lot of fruits and veggies... I started suffering cystic acne after having my first daughter, but it healed for a while, just recently I am having these awful cystic pimples.. Thanks for your help
As per your query you have symptoms of cystic acne on face which is severest form of acne and it is due to hormonal change during puberty , androgen hormones stimulate more sebum to be produced and a greater amount of skin cells to proliferate. Sometimes bacteria get trapped inside the pore, too, causing the area to become red and swollen. You should get your hormone levels monitored. You can take hormone replacement therapy. Exfoliate gently once or twice a day with a salicylic acid-based exfoliant. Apply benzoyl peroxide cream or gel for killing the bacteria in the pore . Wash your face using a mild soap or cleanser and lukewarm water. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined. Doctor may prescribe oral antibiotics like clindamycin , Isotretinoin or Hormone Therapy.
