Suggest Remedy For Dark Spots On Vagina

I am 18 and have had dark purple spots on my vaginal area for quite a few years. I also have an area where there doesn't seem to be any pigment because the pubic hair is white and the skin beneath it is a much lighter color. I'm embarrassed to ask my parents to have it checked out.. Is this normal? Should i have it checked out?
