Suggest Remedy For Depression

I have a 74yr old mother that is in great depression , I had to take her to a mental hospital about a month and half ago, the doctors try several antidepressant but she got out worse, then I took her to see a doc for follow up and he started her in another med, about a 2 weeks ago she overdose she was back again in a different mental hospital and they gave her desipramine 50mg 3 times with atrax 25mg 3 times , she was doing good at the hospital but now that she is home is complaining about weakness, feeling tired , not eating , she says she feels heavy I am afraid that she might try doing something again

Hello,
I think at this age the best antidepressant for her would be escitalopram or sertraline. Their maximum doses are 20mg ang 250mg respectively. Talk to your treating psychiatrist regarding this if these drugs have been used for her or not.
