Suggest Remedy For Dizziness And Delayed Periods

I am 7 days late with my period and have experienced dizzyness & been light-headed over the last 2 weeks. I did not think anything of it until I realized I was late today .... I have an IUD that has been in for 9.5 years. It is supposed to last 10 years. Could I be pregnant?

Hi,

Thanks for posting in HCM.

If there is delay in periods by a week when on IUD, yes, you need to first rule out pregnancy. Also, sometimes the effect of IUD could be wearing off as it is nearing expiry.

Hence, you need to do the following:
1. Get your urine tested for pregnancy.
2. Get you blood checked for beta-HCG levels.

In case, any of the above appears positive for pregnancy, you need to get Trans-vaginal Ultrasound Scan (TVS) done to know about the status of pregnancy.

In case the tests indicate negative for pregnancy and there is further delay in getting your periods, kindly take opinion form Gynecologist in this regard.

Wish you all the best.
