Suggest Remedy For Elevated BP Levels Due To High Stress Levels

I am 39 and have been under a lot of stress for a long period of time. My blood pressure is showing at 155/106 P82 resting. I have an appointment with my primary care provider on Thursday and three young children at home now. Emotional stress seems to be making my chest tighten and heart pound. Should I wait until Thursday since it is hard for me to leave my kids and get time away from them adn I have already been to the E.R. and they told me to go to a primary care.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, stress does pause borderline elevation of blood pressure as in your case showing 155/106 mmHg. Till you consult your primary care, I would recommend:
- Salt restricted diet
- Meditations and YOGA
- Deep breathing exercises

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
