Suggest Remedy For Elevated PT Level While On Warfarin

Have mechanical heart valve take 200mg amiodarone 1time daily plus 120 mg diltiazem 1 time daily.....also take warfarin ....currently stopped because PT results above 8.2. (warfarin dose 3mg daily).....trouble keeping food down ....haven t taken Coumadin last 2 days...... what is done to lower PT numbers

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are a number of different foods or medications that can affect vitamin k level and may therefore affect PT/INR.
Unfortunately amiodarone interacts with warfarin/coumadin to increase the risk of bleeding.

Since you stopped the warfarin, the PT/INR should decrease by day 3 to 4 so your doctor would do the test around that time.
