Suggest Remedy For Elevated SGOT And SGPT Levels

Hi Doctor,I am 34 years old,I am taking medicines for Cholesterol for the last 6 months.It was normal after the medication and came back when I stopped.Recently I checked LFT and found raised levels of SGOT (65) and SGPT (72).What should I do...kindly help

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that elevated liver function tests are not related to Statins or medicines against Cholesterol, as you have stopped the medication.

I would recommend performing an abdominal ultrasound to examine your liver and repeat liver function tests after a couple of week.

If you are currently taking medicine against Cholesterol, you should stop them for at least one month and start again after a month, in low doses.

Anyway, these levels of liver enzymes are not concerning about any serious underlying causes.

So relax and don't worry about it!
