Suggest Remedy For Excessive Cough With Sputum

I had a cold a couple of weeks ago with a cough. The cold is now gone but the cough has remained. It is a little tight with just a little clear sputum (?) when I cough. When I cough, my head also hurts. It is difficult to laugh as I start coughing immediately. Is this something I should be more concerned about?

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you had cold few weeks agao and now you have cough with sputum . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergy, sinusitis , flu and post nasal drip . Sometimes when upper respiratory track infection or cold left untreated produce symptoms you mention in query . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist and take proper treatment . Doctor may order throat swab test , blood test , viral culture test and CT scan to find out the exact cause . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) at leat for 5 days along with decongestant . For now do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day .
