Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How can I get rid of a severe cough. Originally, I had it for six years, had all of the specialists and tests, etc. Then a friend of mine told me to take 2 claritin , and it went away for about a year. Now, I am recovering from severe pain in the area of my right ear (The doctor said that nothing was wrong with my ear.), and the cough has kicked in. It can be so violent that I vomit. It makes it very hard to communicate or conduct business. What do you suggest?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have excessive cough. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergy, sinusitis , flu, acid reflux and post nasal drip . Sometimes when upper respiratory track infection or cold left untreated produce symptoms you mention in query . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist and take proper treatment . Doctor may order throat swab test , blood test , viral culture test and CT scan to find out the exact cause . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics at leat for 5 days along with decongestant . Drink green tea 2-3 times a day with ginger extract. For now do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day .
