Suggest Remedy For Excessive Hair Fall In PCOS Patients
hi doctor, i am suffering from severe hair loss since last 4 yrs. I am slowly going into depression due to this. Also, I have PCOS, and a doc advised me to take Diane-35, which I used for 7 months n stopped. During this period, my hair fall had reduced but again it started after I stopped taking it. My Gynae back home advised me not to take this hormone pill. Now my hair has badly thinned and I don t know how to stop it. Kindly help.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely androgenetic alopecia or female pattern hair loss. Androgens from PCOS also made it worse. Hormonal drugs like diane 35 helps against this but not free of side effects. There are other agents like soy palmetto which also helps but should avoid if you are trying to become pregnant. Minoxidil solution for local application is another treatment available. Using capixyl gel for local application also helps. A consultation with a dermatologist as well a gynecologist is well appreciated for managing this. No need to be depressed. It can be managed. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
