Suggest Remedy For Extreme Dry Skin With Painful, Sore Cuts On Fingers Near Nails

I live in Iowa and my skin gets very dry in the winter and I keep getting these tiny, extremely painful cuts on my fingers very close to me fingernails. I ve tried hand lotions but they still continue to crack open into small cuts. They are so sore I can hardly touch anything. Any suggestions? Thanks, Kim

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It seems to be eczema. I would recommend you to apply topical steroid antibiotic cream like cortisone cream and neosporin ointment on the affected area twice daily along with frequent and regular application of a moisturizing cream containing white soft paraffin on the entire hands 4-5 times in a day.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist
