Suggest Remedy For Extremely Foul Smelling Gas While On Stool Softners
For about 6 months, I have had excessive foul-smelling gas. The odor varys normally by the foods I eat...onion, etc. but otherwise continues to even drive the dog from the room. Also I am unable to control when I pass the gas (until I can get to an appropriate place). I have had constipation most of my life, but can generally have a very firm BM every 2 to three days inaided. Lately I have been using a stool softener (Like Colace) every 2 days and increased my water intake. The stool to be softer for a more comfortable BM. Still, the foul smell. Any help other than giving up social contacts....I am afraid if I don t remedy this problem, I won t have to worry about a social life....
The odor may be related to foods used. There are some foods that are more likely to cause foul gas when compared to others.
This includes foods such as eggs, meat ,cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, kale, collards, mustard green, brussel sprouts.
It may also be related to your constipation, use a high fiber diet with different fruits and vegetables (not including those mentioned), whole grain foods and also fiber supplements.
Make sure to drink a lot of fluids, this is important in constipation. I hope this helps
