Suggest Remedy For Faint Brown Spot, pulsating, numbness And Swelling In Big Toenail

I have a faint brown spot on/beneath my big toenail, an occasional but frequent pulsing feeling in it and it s almost as if my entire foot feels numb or swollen (but it s not) sometimes. I have recently quit smoking in the past month or so and have heard that Gout seems to run in my family. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Hello,

As per your case history of brown spot under nail, it may be either a simple subungual purpura due to some trauma or maybe a melanoma.
My treatment advice is:
1. Avoid wearing ill-fitting footwear
2. Take a NSAID like Ibuprofen and vitamin c for 10 days. If it's purpura lesion it will subside.
If lesion persists then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
