Suggest Remedy For Feeling Of Blocked Throat From Sinus Infection

I have a mild sinus infection and a post nasal drip; the feeling that something is constantly in the back of my throat when I feel like I have to swallow to clear it. I also have the feeling of more saliva than normal in my mouth. Is this connected?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain feeling of something constantly at the back of the throat and need to clear throat is due to post nasal drip that is leading to thick mucous continuously being flowing at the back of throat..
Feeling of more saliva than normal in your case seems to be due to a conscious effort to swallow saliva and mucous that gives an impression of excessive salivation even in the presence of normal salivation..

I would suggest you to take a proper treatment regimen for sinusitis and post nasal drip and gradually the symptoms will ease on its own..

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like PNS view x ray or MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestants like Pseudoephadrine, do saline nasal irrigation, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room..
You can also be advised decongestant nasal sprays containing Xylometazoline or Oxymetazoline..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Do warm compresses around nostrils..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
