Suggest Remedy For Fever With Pain At The Incision Site Of Gall Bladder Removal Surgery
Hi I m 35 year old women had my gallbladder removed through lapchole on July 31st 2015 since yesterday I m having fever ,headache and chills with slight pain and very mild redness in one of the in cessions near belly button.the fever is not going away with aspirin ...should I take antibiotics such as sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim?800/160 mg.
Fever along with redness, pain and tenderness at the incision site can indicate a local infection there. These are most commonly caused by staphylococcus and streptococcus, and penicillin group like amoxyclav given for 5-7 days will be more apt.
But kindly see your doctor for confirming the diagnosis- these are drugs needing a prescription. Also, since fever is high grade and not responding to aspirin, there is a chance of abscess collection that needs to be drained. Meanwhile you can take ibuprofen for pain / fever control 3 times a day.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
