Hi,

Fever along with redness, pain and tenderness at the incision site can indicate a local infection there. These are most commonly caused by staphylococcus and streptococcus, and penicillin group like amoxyclav given for 5-7 days will be more apt.

But kindly see your doctor for confirming the diagnosis- these are drugs needing a prescription. Also, since fever is high grade and not responding to aspirin, there is a chance of abscess collection that needs to be drained. Meanwhile you can take ibuprofen for pain / fever control 3 times a day.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
