Suggest Remedy For Flaky Skin In Eyelid

Hi: Lately the skin on my eyelid is flacky and looks irritated. I try not to allow anything to touch this area. I do use eyemakeup daily. Why is this happening? Is it because I m now 64 and the skin on the eyelid gets thinner as we age? I ve been using Neosporin on the eyelid. What else can I sue to calm down my eyelid?

Hello,

It is likely that you have blepharitis. Try these simple home remedies for about 3-4 weeks and notice the difference.

First, application of heat to warm the eyelid gland secretions and to promote evacuation and cleansing of the secretory passages is essential.

Second, the eyelid margin is scrubbed mechanically to remove adherent material, such as crusting, and to clean the gland orifices, although some clinicians prefer that a few drops of baby shampoo be mixed in one bottle cap full of warm water to form a cleaning solution. Attention must be directed to gentle mechanical jostling or scrubbing of the eyelid margin itself, not the skin of the lids or of the bulbar conjunctival surface. Vigorous scrubbing should be avoided as it may be harmful.
