Suggest Remedy For Frequent Urination And Back Pain After Placing Mirena

I got chronic utis in the past. Did not have one over a year. With in that year had a pregnancy and now a three month old. Any way needed a good birthcontrol cause of pocs, age and other effects that a mierna would be the best way to go. Three weeks ago I had one inserted and starting yesturday I have signs of an uti. No burning yet just constant urination and back pain. Going to dr tomorrow just wondering if iud cause the uti. I really hope not I need a reliable birthcontrol.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
The IUD,s are usually placed following strict aseptic procedure.
hence infection during the procedure is very minimal.
* Doing an urine routine test would help to diagnose infection if any.
* I would advise to consult your gyanec, to see the placement of IUD now, and in rare cases chemical irritation occur with these device, and hence ruling out this is necessary.
* Mirena IUD is a progesterone releasing device that is very effective and have minimal side effects with a long life span.
however if you find any difficulties with it, you can readily change to other methods of contraception.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
