Suggest Remedy For Hard Lump On Forehead Post Injury

Hi, my friend went out drinking tonight, was very drunk, fell about 4 feet off a deck onto his face. He now has a huge egg on his forehead, supposedly he loss consciousness for a bit (I was not there). He is now sleeping, I gave him some ibuprofen and an ice pack but I was wondering if we should take him to the dr. his pupils are constricted & not very reactive to light (doing this while he is sleeping) I don t know if this is from the fall or because he us drunk & sleeping. Thanks

Hello,

Pupils are constructed during deep sleep and it's not abnormal. I would recommend the following to those who come to my clinic with similar symptoms:
1) Ice pack on the swelling to reduce the size
2) Inspection for any other injuries
3) MRI brain to detect any clots or injury
4) It's better to avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen as they inhibit clotting and prolong bleeding
5) Tab. Acetaminophen can be taken
6) Eye examination for any injury

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
