Suggest Remedy For Heartburn After Gall Bladder Removal Surgery

My 65 yr old mom had her gallbladder removed on tuesday. The operation took much longer than expected. The wall was very thin. It apparently shredded when the surgeon was tryinfarber45g to take it out. Not to mention it was in meshed in the Omentum. Apparently it had a lot of sludge and even a few stones! So needless to say a simple procedure took nearly 4.5 hours from pre to post. Finally my question..... why such a thin wall??? Now 2 days later she is having such bad heart burn!! And groin pain, she has a grenade drain, we go hack to the dr on friday. Just wanted to pick your brain thanks!!!! Nebraska

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello welcome to HCM. the wall of gallbladder is so designed it has less muscles layer and inner wall folds are there to help its storage functioning. Hence the wall is thin. Regarding your heart burn, severe acidity is there. Try raising the head of your bed about four inches with blocks. It symptoms may decrease if you avoid eating or drinking for two hours before you lie down. To help control the stomach acid, one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them, or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods. Also take some antacid but if the symptoms are severe, then you may need drugs like proton pump inhibitors. Please take advice from physician. Take care
