Suggest Remedy For High Blood Sugars

My husband has always high blood sugars and now, he is bedridden, double amputee, 68 years old and eating what he wants which may include a coke and candy bar during the day...his blood sugars are stable at 350. He feels fine and that term is relevant as he has heart disease, almost blind and many other issues going on. Of course, his insurance is in the hole at this time and money is not available for the many meds he is on. I am sure he gets his insulin and pills he has on hand, but what are we to do? I am going to talk to his dr in the morning...

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Control the diet, which is the most important part.
2. Insulin dose needs to be increased, however it needs to be slowly increased to avoid episodes of hypoglycemia.
3. He is already suffering from severe complications of diabetes mellitus and if the diet is not under control, then it is very difficult to control blood sugar levels. Concentrate on diet.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
