Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i think i may be allergic to the sun. i know i ve never been any good at heated tempretures. however, this year i have had lots of hives on my arms, neck, legs and have. i do not eat dairy and have a low gluten diet due to tummy isues. i watch my sugar because i have type 2 diabeities. i have some food alergies and also to pollin and mold. with all those issues i can not put my finger on why my hives are sooooo bad. it s rare for me to be reacting so much. however, this year... i am stuck indoors. covering up very well when i do go out. it seems to be working so far. could it be the sun?? never had a problem with it before, then again, at the age of 15 i became lactose intolerent, could that happen to me at the age of 42??
Simply said, the exposed parts of your body are getting hives as is common with most the the patients. Exposure to sun can instigate or enhance the problems. Diabetes has secondary effect on skin sensitivity. It is the patient who has to find out the factors that are instigating or enhancing the symptoms. Your keen observation alone can help you. The saying in our science is: anything under the sun including the sun can cause allergy.
Take an antihistamine that suits you the most and gives most effective relief. You can not take oral steroids as you have diabetes type 2 as oral steroids can increase blood sugar if the person has diabetes, and if at all needed then daily sugar levels need to be done to see whether steroids suit you by bot elevating blood sugars.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
