Suggest Remedy For Hypertension In An Elderly Person

Dear Dr, I hope this finds you in good spirit My mother she is 81 year old and she is suffering from blood pressure for many years, now she is taking metoprolol, asa, verapamil. her echo says IVSD 1.7 and pwd 1.2 she is o.k. but breathing fast. what we need to do? I appreciate you kind help in advance

I can understand your concern.
Her echo report is showing slightly reduced heart pumping and function.
This is mostly due to long standing hypertension and old age (81 years).
Due to reduced heart functions, circulation of fluid in the body is hampered.
So fluid accumulate in lungs (pulmonary edema).
And this is the likely cause far her fast breathing and breathlessness.
So she will mostly need diuretic drug today remove fluid fromm the lungs.
So along with current antihypertensive drugs, she will be benefitted by diuretics.
So discuss with her doctor about starting diuretics.
