Suggest Remedy For Improving Voice Quality

I am a 31-year old male. I’ve had a problem with the pitch of my voice for at least the past 10 years. My voice is quite high-pitched and my voice cracks whenever I try to speak louder. It’s like almost no sound comes out, a few squeaky syllables get out…My doctor told me it is natural since birth, it might be problem in separation of vocal cord in early age (17 years) but it quit natural. I feel that the problem gets amplified whenever I’m outside, I’m having a lot of trouble with this problem. I also get teased a lot for the girlish voice. My parents are against a certain surgery to remove any type of problems such as lump or polyp. Please advise me how may I improve my voice either my own or surgery. How much it will be successful after surgery and how much cost . If you need any further information, please ask me. I await your reply. ( YYYY@YYYY )

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Welcome to HCM,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

As per your clinical details, it appears to be puberophnia (male with female voice).

I suggest you to consult ent surgeon, for evaluation and treatment. Initially, you can try with speech therapist. In case of persistence, surgery is indicated.

Hope, I have answered your query.

Wishing you good health.
