Suggest Remedy For Irritation In Chest Cavity Causing Constant Cough

seem to be coughing for no apparent reason other than an irritable feeling deep in my chest cavity. the cough is most often dry but occasionally it will bring up a very thick mucus. I have been usiing losenges and cough syrup for congestion but no real improvement.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Cough associated with thick mucus is suggestive of lower respiratory tract infection.
Lozenges and cough syrups will not help in case of lower respiratory tract infection.
An antibiotic cover is required to treat the infection.
Sputum culture will be helpful to isolate the organism causing the mucus production.
Culture followed by drug sensitivity will be required to select the most appropriate antibiotic effective against the causative micro-organism.
