Suggest Remedy For Itching Caused By Bites In Both Shins
I have been experiencing major itching from bites on both Shin areas. I have tried any anti itch creams and none of them seem to relieve itching for a long period of time! My dog does not have fleas, however , when I walk him I wear long pants and do spray legs and outside of pant legs and doesn t seem to be effective. Im itching so much its causing bleeding! What can I use to mitigate this problem and what can you recommend for a repellent!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history, you are suffering from insect bite dermatitis, my treatment advice is: 1. Do not scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days. 4. Other treatment options are an oral steroid, and hydroxyzine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
