Suggest Remedy For Itching In Face, Chest And Neck

I m 69 years old and I don t itch as much as I feel little stings over my face chest and neck. I v always been in the sun a lot but my skin is not dry. I take a over the counter sleep aid occasionally and it seems to take care of it, which is 25mg of diphenhydramine. What do you think it is and is there a natural substance that can be taken?

Hi,

Itching, stinging, and other skin irritations can have many different causes, so it is important to see a doctor or dermatologist to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. Some common causes of itching and stinging sensations on the face, chest, and neck include dry skin, insect bites or stings, allergic reactions, and skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.

If you're looking for natural remedies, you may try the following:
* Apply a cold compress: Applying a cold compress to the affected area can help reduce inflammation and provide relief from itching and stinging sensations.
* Oatmeal bath: Taking an oatmeal bath or using oatmeal-based products can help soothe itchy skin.
* Aloe vera: Applying aloe vera gel to the affected area can help soothe and moisturize the skin.
* Coconut oil: Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that can help soothe and nourish dry, itchy skin.
* Chamomile: Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce itching and stinging sensations. You can apply chamomile tea directly to the affected area or use chamomile-based products.

However, if your symptoms persist, you should consult a healthcare provider or dermatologist to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment. They may recommend medications, prescription creams, or other treatments to help alleviate your symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
