Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had an area on my back that itches, first thought it was an insect bite but no mark or injury. It has been almost 2 months and I can get no relief from over the counter products. I occasionally itch the area over frustration which makes it somewhat worse. Please give me an idea as to what to try. Thank you for your time.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have itchy rashes on back. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query meningitis , chickenpox , contact dermatitis , eczema , dry skin , eczema and erythema nodosum. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses on rashes , avoid applying any cosmetic product except petroleum jelly , take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl and drink plenty of water . If condition doesn't get well the consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like blood test , allergy test and skin patch test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with corticosteroid ointment or antibiotics like clindamycin .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
