Suggest Remedy For Itchy Rashes On The Lower Back And Buttocks Region
I have a very itchy rash on my lower back and buttocks. I thought it was presenting as yeast but I have been on heavy probiotics and taking monastat and I have a very clean diet. No junk, organic. it sort of looks like a large circular rash that s expanding. The rest of my body is very itchy without any rash.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to fungal infection called Tinea corporis. Monistat won't be that effective in this case. Taking anti fungal ointments like Terbinafine (Lamisil) or Miconazole for local applicationwill be helpful for this. You can also use ketoconazole soap or powder for better effect. If there is no improvement then oral anti fungal agents like Fluconazole will be needed. You can also take cetirizine (zyrtec) for itching.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
