Suggest Remedy For Itchy Throat With Phlegm And Cough

I had a cough for 3 weeks now with itchy throat and moderate amount of whitish phlegm.i went to my doctor and prescribed me some cough syrup and antihistamines but to no avail.Chest x ray shows normal.My coughing usually worse during night time.I have no fever,night sweats or loss of weight.Pls advise

Avoid too much air conditioning and exposure to dust, smoke and pollen, drink lots of water and try doing some steam inhalation. Eat small, frequent meals and do not go to bed immediately following a meal.
