Hi, I just had anew partner and had unprotected sex. Day after, I had uti symptoms, such as burning in the lower abdomen and frequency to urinate. I saw my doctor to days after and she gave me Bactrim and pyridium. Urinalysis was done and there were no infections. Swiped and cells looked normal. I finished my medication and took as directed. It is now two days since I ve finished my medication and I m getting bad itching inside of my vagina and burning and frequency to urinate. Please help.

Thank you for query.itching and burning can be due to urethritis or fungal infection.Hope the tests have been undertaken to rule out these. You may require either change in antibiotics or need antifungal like topical clotrimazole and oral antifungal like flucanazole .Clean the area with warm water.take plenty of oral fluids and water. If does not subside you can consult your doctor. You can get back to me for any clarifications .Dr Bharatesh D Basti
