Suggest Remedy For Lipomas With Discharge On The Hip

I have a limpoma on my left hip, it has started to leak, I pushed allof the fluid out of it , washed with soap and water and put a band aid on it to keep it clean. I m scheduled to have it removed in three weeks, do you see any problmes before that time ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It seems like an infected lipoma. It will be better to do surgery once the infection settles.

As a first line management you can apply over the counter available topical antibiotics like mupirocin.

A short course of antibiotics may be started for five days. You can undergo surgical removal of the lesion once the infection settles.

Nothing much to worry as it is a simple minor procedure done under local anaesthesia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
