Suggest Remedy For Low Blood Pressure In Pregnancy
I'm 23 weeks pregnant and have never had hypotension. Hypertension with my previous two children. My blood pressure has been as low as 79/43 after a near fainting experience. It is now 102/56. I keep it this high by consuming diet coke and frequently eating chips. My OB does not seemed to be concerned. I however would like to know if I should be placed on medication or just continue to self medicate?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Hypotension is common in pregnancy because of the hormonal changes in the body in pregnancy. The progesterone hormone leads to hypotension. It is more common in first and second trimester of pregnancy. There is nothing to worry, just keep your fluid intake normal. There is no need to take additional salt intake. Moreover, since you had history of hypertension in previous pregnancies, you need to keep your salt intake normal and get your blood pressure monitoring done regularly so that hypertension can be detected at the earliest.
